Democrats Humiliate Themselves on Capitol Hill—Again
Democrats had a choice last night. They could have behaved like a serious opposition party, offering measured responses and strategic pushback to Donald Trump’s highly anticipated address. Instead, they opted for theatrics, outbursts, and a level of pettiness that played right into Trump’s hands.
It took just four minutes for the first Democrat to be forcibly removed from the chamber. Rep. Al Green (D-TX), a longtime grandstander, leapt from his seat and began shouting about Social Security cuts that don’t exist before being escorted out by security (CNN, Politico). It was the perfect opening act for an evening of self-inflicted wounds.
While Trump delivered a policy-heavy speech designed to appeal to middle-class voters—hitting on job growth, energy independence, foreign policy, and trade—Democrats staged what can only be described as a political tantrum.
They refused to stand for a child cancer survivor.
They refused to applaud a young West Point cadet.
They sat motionless when Trump called for an end to war.
And then, in a move straight out of an Occupy Wall Street protest, they pulled out pre-printed “Liar” signs and waved them in the air (Axios).
Did they think this was a viral TikTok stunt? Because for the millions of Americans watching at home, it looked petulant, unserious, and desperate.
A Lesson in Political Self-Destruction
If the Democratic strategy was to expose Trump’s divisiveness, they failed spectacularly. If their goal was to remind voters why they keep losing, mission accomplished.
📌 They looked like bitter losers. Every time they refused to stand for an undeniably nonpartisan moment, it reminded voters why they are in the minority.
📌 They reinforced Trump’s messaging. His entire speech painted Democrats as radicals who care more about their obsession with him than governing. The fact that they spent the night proving him right? A political gift.
📌 They handed Trump an easy victory. Instead of offering a contrast in leadership, they spent the night sulking while Trump’s proposals polled through the roof—76% approval among CBS viewers, 69% approval from CNN’s audience (CBS Poll).
Even CNN, whose post-speech analysis was about as friendly to Democrats as possible, couldn’t deny the numbers. Independents liked what they heard.
The biggest loser? The Democratic Party. Again.
Greenland: Trump’s “Crazy” Idea That Wasn’t So Crazy
If last night wasn’t enough of a reminder, Trump plays the long game better than any politician in modern history.
Case in point? Greenland.
While most of the media ignored it, Trump revived his 2019 proposal to acquire Greenland as a key strategic asset. Predictably, the press laughed. But The Charlotte Mercury didn’t. Last fall, we took a serious look at the issue and we stand by our analysis:
🔗 Why Trump’s Greenland Vision Makes Strategic Sense
Greenland isn’t just a block of ice—it’s a geopolitical goldmine. Control of Arctic trade routes, rare earth minerals, and military positioning against Russia and China make it one of the most valuable territories on Earth.
If the Democrats had spent less time waving pre-made signs last night and more time studying Arctic geopolitics, they might have realized why this so-called crazy idea makes more sense than ever.
Democrats Keep Losing Because They Keep Behaving Like This
This isn’t about whether you love or hate Trump. It’s about why the Democrats keep losing to him.
Voters—especially independents—aren’t looking for temper tantrums. They want serious leadership. They want to hear about lower gas prices, border security, and ending foreign wars.
Trump gave them that last night.
Democrats gave them nothing.
The worst part? They don’t even realize it.
