Salted Roads & Closed Schools: Snow and Ice Grip Charlotte ❄️

Charlotte is bracing for its first significant winter weather in three years. A mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain is expected to impact roads, schools, transit, and vulnerable populations. Here’s everything you need to know.

Weather Forecast and Timeline

The National Weather Service predicts up to 1.5 inches of snow across Mecklenburg County, with sleet and freezing rain throughout the day. Temperatures will hover around freezing, creating hazardous road conditions that could persist into the weekend.

Road Preparations and Driving Safety

Charlotte Department of Transportation (CDOT)

CDOT began treating high-priority routes on Thursday, focusing on major thoroughfares and emergency routes.
