Todd Gilliland Has Never Won a Cup Race. On Sunday He Won a Million Dollars.
The In-Season Challenge final came down to 24th place against 26th. Gilliland qualified 36th, ran second at the stage-two line, and beat a series champion who was making his 400th career start.
Corey Heim Just Won the Brickyard 400. His Cup Points Total Is Still Zero.
Heim held off Christopher Bell by 0.287 seconds at Indianapolis and led more laps than anyone in the field. He is the defending Truck Series champion, declared for points in that series, and the official scoring report credits him with nothing in Cup.
Carson Kvapil Had Never Won a Race. On Saturday His Own Team Finished Second, Third and Fourth.
Kvapil came in tied for the most runner-up finishes without a win in series history. He led the last 22 laps at Indianapolis to end it, and JR Motorsports took the next three spots behind him.
