Historic Fourth Ward's holiday tour is back for three December evenings, and the tickets went on sale Friday at noon.

The Fourth Ward Holiday Sip & Stroll runs Thursday, Dec. 3, Friday, Dec. 4, and Saturday, Dec. 5, from 5 to 9 p.m. each night. It is a self-guided walk through the Victorian-era blocks of the Uptown neighborhood, porch to porch, with food and cocktail tastings and live holiday music. An upgraded ticket adds the interiors of three private Victorian homes, decorated by their owners, and new this year, a curated tasting inside each one.

Friends of Fourth Ward, the volunteer neighborhood group that puts on the tour, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. The tour is a fundraiser, and the organizers say it sells out well in advance every year.

Tickets

  • Sip & Stroll only (outdoors): $40 for one specific night, or $55 for a flex ticket good on any one of the three nights.
  • Sip & Stroll plus Holiday Home Tour: $75 for one night, or $100 for flex. The flex version can be split across nights.

Tickets are on Eventbrite, non-refundable unless the organizers cancel, and good rain or shine.

Tastings and music

Fifteen hospitality partners are offering complimentary tastings so far, on the route or at their own neighborhood spots: Arbol Holiday Café, Assorted Table Wine, The Asbury, Broken Shed Vodka, The Daily, Doc Porter's Distillery, The Dunhill Hotel, Fralinger Baking Company, Lythgoe Bourbon, It's Poppin' Gourmet Kettle Korn, Muddy River Distillery, Pizzeria Sapienza, Sea Level, Spaghett and Tito's Handmade Vodka. More are to be announced. Prevox Trio, Queen City Vocals, One Voice Chorus, the Morning Star Lutheran Handbell Choir, Leisure McCorkle and Josh Daniel provide the music. Howard Hanna Allen Tate is the Gold Sponsor.

Getting there

Check in at the ticket booth at West 9th and North Poplar streets to pick up the guidebook you'll need for the tour. Plan on three to four hours for the full route. Parking in the neighborhood is limited, so the organizers recommend ride share or the light rail; the 7th Street Public Market and 9th Street stops are closest. Leave the dogs at home.

Fourth Ward Charlotte has the full guide, with every vendor, the music lineup and tips for the night. Friends of Fourth Ward posts updates on Instagram at @fourthwardclt and on Facebook at @friendsoffourthward.
