What “At-Large” Means
Charlotte elects four council members citywide, not by district. Voters can mark up to four names, and the top four finishers win. This block voting setup rewards slate discipline and turnout math, which is why Democrats usually sweep the field. For the deeper dive, see our explainer: Why Democrats Routinely Win At-Large Seats.
How To Vote

What To Watch
The 1-cent transportation sales tax
It is the biggest policy fight of the cycle. What it funds, who runs it, and where candidates have staked out positions are all in one place: Charlotte’s 1% Transit Tax Explainer.
Stadium and public funding
Expect questions about leverage, community benefits, and timing. We fold those into candidate pages and hub updates as records develop.
Housing and UDO enforcement
Density, displacement, and rezoning votes will continue to define citywide races. Track our coverage via Housing and the district hubs inside Poll Dance 2025.
Debates and Forums
We log dates, stream links, and receipts inside the election hub. Start here: Poll Dance 2025; Join the Dance.
Service Box: Voting Essentials

Notes on Methodology
We compile guides from public filings and on-the-record materials, then supplement them with reporting from meetings and forums. The At-Large roster and the master list are updated as new documents land. See: At-Large Candidates 2025 and Full Candidate List.
