TORONTO — Trevor Carrick scored the go-ahead goal at 15:04 of the third period, and the Charlotte Checkers outlasted the Toronto Marlies 3-2 Thursday at Coca-Cola Coliseum, stretching their winning streak to four games — all on the road.

Carrick's fifth goal of the season was his first since January 23. Gracyn Sawchyn, back after missing 88 days with an injury, set it up. He also assisted on Cole Devine's first-period goal, finishing with two points in his return.

Charlotte led 1-0 after one on Devine's 18th goal at 10:53, assisted by Sawchyn. The Marlies answered in the second: Olivier Haymes tied it at 5:48, then Easton Shaw's short-handed goal at 18:35 gave Toronto a 2-1 lead heading into the third.

Riley Steeves erased the deficit at 9:13 of the third, his 21st goal of the season set up by Mikhail Studnicka. Carrick settled it with 4:56 remaining.

Cooper Black made 15 saves to earn his 25th win of the season. Dennis Hildeby started for Toronto. Charlotte was 0-for-5 on the power play and 2-for-2 on the penalty kill.

The Checkers are 41-21-5 (87 points) and have won four consecutive games, all away from Bojangles Coliseum. Their next home games begin April 11 against the Hershey Bears.
