For 26 years, Dr. George Limbanovnos has been a steady presence in the neighborhood, someone families turn to when they want to feel better, move better and live better. As the owner of Carolina Family Chiropractic, he has built a practice on personal attention, integrity and a passion for helping people change their lives.
A journey that began with family
Limbanovnos's story starts in 1999, when he and his wife Jenny opened their first chiropractic office after he graduated from Logan University. Their early days in Matthews laid the foundation for a long-standing commitment to serving local families with hands-on, personalized care. What drives him has not changed since day one: helping people improve their body's function so they can live fuller, healthier lives.
A day in the life
His routine reflects the discipline he brings to the work. Mornings begin at 5 a.m. with stretching and breakfast before he heads to the office to start adjusting patients at 7 a.m. After a midday break, with more stretching, he returns to patient care until 5 p.m. Evenings are for dinner, family time and more exercises to keep himself in the shape he encourages in others. Outside the office he finds balance in golf, mountain biking and the occasional fishing trip.
Changing lives, one patient at a time
Patients often arrive with a simple but urgent question: "Can you help me change my... problem?" Whether it is back pain, neck pain, migraines or hip issues, he approaches each case with the same goal, to restore function and improve quality of life.
One of his most memorable moments came last year, when three patients arrived with scheduled back surgeries they were anxious to undergo. Through decompression plans, a treatment that gently stretches the spine on a table, and consistent care, all three avoided surgery. One even had a follow-up MRI showing that three disc bulges had returned to normal.
Patients value attention that goes beyond what insurance covers and focuses on what each person truly needs.
Rooted in the community
Being part of the neighborhood means everything to him. He sees the community as "one big family," where a smile and a handshake still matter. The practice stays active through health fairs, educational talks and fundraisers. When he is not in the office or on the golf course, you might find him at Maxwell's Restaurant in Waxhaw, a spot he has enjoyed for more than 25 years.
At home, the man who once planned on a single dog now cares for two dogs, two cats, a goldfish and a hermit crab.
His advice for anyone running a business: "Love what you do and do it with integrity."
