Twelve years of community, career and connection in Baxter Village.
Meghan and Patrick Reynolds bought their Baxter Village home shortly after their wedding 12 years ago. For the past seven years, that house has been the site of their most cherished tradition: an annual Santa Brunch for close friends and neighbors.
Newly married, they had been looking for a community with charm, convenience and genuine connection, and they found it in Baxter, with its walkable shops and dining on Market Street and its full calendar of seasonal events. Today their home is filled with three growing boys, two Bernedoodles and a deep appreciation for the neighborhood.
A Carolinas love story
Meghan grew up in Massachusetts and moved south to attend Clemson University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in marketing before later earning her MBA. Patrick, a Rock Hill native, grew up right down the road and attended the University of South Carolina, majoring in marketing and real estate. In a twist of fate, he studied Baxter Village in a USC course long before it became his family's home.
The two met at their first job out of college in Charlotte, where Meghan was Patrick's mentor. A year later, Patrick was offered a promotion that required a move to Denver. Two days before he headed west, he asked Meghan out on their first date. That evening sparked a year of long-distance romance and a lot of frequent-flyer miles.
When Patrick moved back to Charlotte, he proposed in Romare Bearden Park in Uptown. The couple married at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church and held their reception at the historic Duke Mansion in Myers Park. Shortly after, they bought their home in Baxter Village.
Careers and giving back
Patrick is senior director of sales at Bullhorn, the cloud-based software company, where he leads commercial initiatives.
Meghan is a familiar face around the neighborhood as a luxury real estate advisor and team lead with the Andy Bovender Team at Compass. Neighbors spot her at the Market Street office or handing out treats at Baxter's festivals. She supports several local causes, including Agape Acres Equine Ministry, Orchard Park Elementary School and the Baxter Barracudas swim team.
Three boys and two pups
At the heart of the household are three energetic sons, ages 9, 7 and 3, and two standard Bernedoodles: Bailey, 10, and Bella, a 9-month-old puppy. The oldest is the family's math and space enthusiast, the middle son its artist and outdoor inventor, and the youngest, the silliest and sweetest, loves Spider-Man and jumping off just about anything. Between them the boys play soccer and golf, take music and art lessons around Fort Mill, Tega Cay and Kingsley, and swim each summer with the Baxter Barracudas.
Baxter traditions
Every summer the family decorates its golf cart for Baxter's 4th of July parade and hosts a pool party. In fall and winter come Halloween parties, holiday lights and golf cart rides to see the neighbors' decorations.
Meghan remembers the Santa Brunch from her own childhood.
Around town, they head to Market Street for dinner, visit Grapevine, shop local storefronts and explore the Anne Springs Close Greenway, Downtown Fort Mill and Kingsley.
Looking back on 12 years, Meghan and Patrick say life here is defined by relationships. Having raised all three boys in Baxter, they have watched neighbors become lifelong friends who feel like family through the best moments and the hardest ones.
