Three sisters, three personalities, one porch.
If you have walked past the Padgett home, you have probably been cheered on by some very enthusiastic spectators. Tonja and Scott Padgett share the house with three dachshunds, Hershey, Daisy and Lucy, who have the short legs in common and almost nothing else. Their only nicknames are their names with "Girl" tacked on the end.
The trio
Hershey Girl is the 11-year-old matriarch, a long-haired miniature dachshund who is cuddly, sweet and completely chill. She loves her beauty sleep and can routinely be found snuggling in the bedroom until 10 a.m. Her favorite human is her brother, Matt.
Daisy Girl, 9, is a tri-merle who brings the high energy. She is athletic, rambunctious and a jumper, and when she finally rests it is perched on the back of the sofa. Daisy is especially bonded with her human sister, Emily.
Lucy Girl is the baby at 6, an English Cream teacup dachshund who is sassy, needy and a little anxious. She likes to sleep on a blanket, fully stretched out on top of her owners' legs. She was supposed to be Tonja's dog. She lost her heart to Scott instead.
A fun fact from the family: Daisy and Lucy are cousins and share the same grandparents.
Wiener dog shenanigans
Daisy is the food thief. She once jumped onto the coffee table and cleared out an entire spread of appetizers, and when Tonja was not feeling well recently, Daisy helped herself to a sip of her soup.
Hershey is the night owl. She may sleep in, but once she is let out after dark she goes hunting rabbits and refuses to come back inside.
Lucy works the day shift. She watches for squirrels from the sunroom and begs to go out, then forgets the squirrels entirely and bumps into her sisters, disrupting the whole chase. If she does not like you, expect a snort.
The ultimate golf fans
All three dogs are fascinated by golf. From the backyard they watch the players, welcome them to the course and will happily act as the ultimate champions of your golf game. Next time you pass the Padgett home or play a round close by, wave at Hershey, Daisy and Lucy, the neighborhood's most dedicated dachshund trio.
