The Carolina Panthers brought back DeAngelo Hall as their cornerbacks coach on Monday, three days after parting ways with defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero and defensive passing game coordinator Jonathan Cooley.
Hall, a former defensive back who made three Pro Bowls in 14 NFL seasons, from 2004 through 2017, returns to Carolina's staff after serving as the Panthers' assistant defensive backs coach in 2023 and 2024, the team said. Head coach Dave Canales announced the hire in a team release.
The release did not say whose duties Hall takes on. In the staff list the team published with it, Todd Wash remains interim defensive coordinator and defensive play-caller, the roles he was given Oct. 30, and Renaldo Hill remains secondary coach.
His 328 yards on fumble returns are an NFL record, and his five fumble-return touchdowns are tied for the second-most in league history, according to the team.
The Panthers added another cornerback on Friday, Oct. 30, signing Caelen Carson to the practice squad, whose players practice with the team but can play only if signed to the roster or promoted for that week. Carson played 17 games, with eight starts, for the Dallas Cowboys from 2024 to 2026 and had 45 tackles and six passes defensed, according to the team.
The Panthers, 3-4 according to the NFL's standings, play the Denver Broncos at Bank of America Stadium at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8.
