Coffee with a Cop Meets Second Fridays in Ballantyne

On the second Friday of every month from 9 to 11 a.m., Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officers are at Ballantyne Summit Coffee on Conlan Circle to take questions and hear concerns over a cup of coffee. Stroll Providence joins each month and invites neighbors along.

Once a month, the uniforms at Ballantyne Summit Coffee are there to listen.

Coffee with a Cop puts Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department officers in a coffee shop on the second Friday of every month from 9 to 11 a.m. The spot is Ballantyne Summit Coffee, 13743 Conlan Cir, Suite 101. Stroll Providence partners with the police department on the program, joins each month and would like more residents and community partners to come along.

What it is

The gatherings are a simple way to connect: a cup of coffee and a conversation, building trust and understanding between CMPD officers and the neighbors they serve. The setting is relaxed by design, so residents can ask questions, voice concerns and get to know the officers who help keep the community safe.

Residents can simply turn up during the two hours.

A standing date

The magazine has carried the invitation in every issue since May, each with that month's date: May 8, June 12, July 10 and Sept. 11, all second Fridays. The October issue drops the specific date for the standing rule: always the second Friday of the month, 9 to 11 a.m. By that rule, the November gathering falls on Nov. 13.

Neighbors who want to show support for local officers, or who have a question they have been meaning to ask, can simply turn up.

This story appears in the October 2026 issue of Stroll Providence.
