The only team to beat Carolina Ascent this season is Tampa Bay Sun FC. On Saturday, Oct. 10, Charlotte's professional women's soccer team went to Tampa and beat it 3-0.

Jill Aguilera and Rylee Baisden scored six minutes apart before halftime, and Riley Parker added the third in the second half, her first goal of the season. Goalkeeper Sydney Martinez earned her fifth shutout in eight matches, according to the club.

Tampa Bay had beaten Carolina 2-1 in Charlotte on Aug. 29, in Carolina's home opener. The win put Carolina eight points clear at the top of the Gainbridge Super League, an eight-team women's league, a lead it kept by beating DC Power FC 1-0 on Friday.

Aguilera scored in the 38th minute on a rebound after Tampa Bay goalkeeper Cristina Roque saved a shot by Shea Groom. Baisden scored off a low cross from Mia Corbin. An earlier Baisden goal, in the 18th minute, was called back for offside.
