Charlotte FC forward Idan Toklomati was named Monday to Major League Soccer's Team of the Matchday, the league's pick of the best 11 players from a round of games, for the second time in three rounds.
Toklomati, a 22-year-old Israel national team player, scored one goal and set up the other in Charlotte's 2-2 draw at the Philadelphia Union on Saturday, Oct. 17. The goal was his 13th in MLS this season, a club record, and he has five assists, according to the club.
Early in the second half he took a throw-in from defender Nathan Byrne and passed to forward Rodolfo Aloko, who scored to tie the game 1-1. In the 62nd minute, Toklomati headed in a curling ball from defender David Schnegg to put Charlotte ahead 2-1.
He was one of three forwards on the league's team, with Gonzalo Tapia of the Columbus Crew and Antoine Griezmann of Orlando City SC. Toklomati also made the team for Matchday 29, after scoring twice and adding an assist in a 3-2 comeback win over FC Dallas on Oct. 10.
Charlotte plays the Portland Timbers at Providence Park at 10:30 p.m. ET Saturday, Oct. 24.
